InterContinental Robertson Quay – King Classic Room (Hotel Review)

Walking into InterContinental Robertson Quay is like stepping into a calm little bubble in the middle of the city. It’s actually situated in one of my favourite estates in Singapore. It’s always so calm and peaceful in Robertson Quay but now that they’re doing major revamps in all corners of the area, it can be a little chaotic at the moment with all the constructions.

The lobby of the hotel feels bright, and airy with natural light streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows. Muted tones, subtle art and modern furniture make it look elegant. It’s giving a pleasant looking airport lounge. Don’t get me wrong tho! I love airport lounges!

Check-in was smooth and efficient, staff were polite, friendly and professional. That’s the InterContinental standard! I should know.

You know that kind of service where you feel genuinely welcomed but not watched over? That’s exactly what it was. I was guided to my room quickly and the small gestures during check-in, like confirming my preferences and giving a brief tour of amenities, already made the hotel feel personal rather than just transactional. It sounds simple but I’m always appalled when other 5-star properties don’t do that.

Now, let’s talk about the room, because this is where it gets really good. I stayed in a Classic King room with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the river. Morning coffee with boats drifting by? The view alone makes you want to stay in all day.

The bed is super comfortable. What I love about staying in InterContinental hotels is that, they have a pillow menu so you can choose the firmness of the pillows you want. I prefer mine really firm! A chance to make my naps more pleasant? Sign me up! I could have spent the whole day pretending to work but really just lying there, scrolling or staring out the window.

Instead of a traditional work desk, the room has a small circular table beside the lounge chair. It’s great for a coffee, a light meal or casually flipping open your laptop. It’s not the usual type of setup if you’re really here to work! But then again, with the comfortable bed, I’m sure you’ll be distracted anyway.

The room also comes with a big TV for Netflix nights and surprisingly, a Bose speaker. You hardly ever see that in hotels! The sound was so good I kept playing Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild on repeat. I still can’t get her choreography right! One of many reasons why I’m not a Tiktoker dancer.

The room has little thoughtful features everywhere: bedside outlets are smartly placed, curtains open smoothly and temperature control is effortless.

And now, the bathroom, which I genuinely loved. The walls are mirrors, which at first is a little too much but actually makes the space feel huge.

There’s a rainfall shower that’s perfect for waking up in the morning and a bidet, which I absolutely adore (I like things really clean okay!). Towels are fluffy, robes are plush but not heavy, just the way I like it.

Minibar and coffee station are small but functional. Tea amenitities are from Monogram! A little fun fact here, because I love reading about the brands that hotels use: Gryphon Tea was created in in 2006 when founder, Mr. Lim Tian Wee decided it was time to shake up his family’s tea legacy. And because sometimes regular tea just isn’t enough, they created Monogram Tea, basically their playground for cool, fun blends that let you sip something a little different every time.

The hotel’s location is quietly brilliant. Tucked along the riverside, it’s peaceful, but you’re just steps away from Robertson Quay’s restaurants, bars, and casual nightlife.

Overall, InterContinental Robertson Quay nails it. From the fresh lobby and smooth check-in to the mirrored bathroom with a bidet (yes, I’m still obsessed), this hotel delivers comfort, luxury and personality all in one! Will I come back?

Definitely! It’s time to leave live the InterContinental life!
