Whenever I travel, I love researching about the history and the culture of the country I’m going to. I would get tour guides to bring me around, share historic stories about the place but what I like even better, is if the experience is actually immersive!
And that’s what to me, what Hotel Indigo is all about.
Hotel rooms can sometimes feel like copy-and-paste boxes with a bed. The King Suite at Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park? It’s the opposite! It’s different, it’s immersive. It’s everything I’d ask for in a hotel that embraces heritage and culture.

The lobby itself feels like a creative showcase; walls of greenery mixed with art made from unexpected things, like melted plastic bottles reshaped into light installations? Just unique! It’s a small but powerful reminder that this hotel prioritise sustainability, turning what could have been trash into something so pretty.

Check-in process was just incredible. You will be served a refreshing pineapple-ish juice as a welcome drink that really helped with my jet lag. Wait! Can a 6-hour bus journey give you jet lag? I would say.. yes!
I was greeted by name, and my membership was also acknowledged. The staff’s service matches the hotel vibe perfectly: warm, genuine, and consistent throughout the stay. They don’t just do their jobs, they seem proud of what the hotel stands for, which makes the whole experience feel even more authentic.

The heritage vibe carries through to the King Suite, where the design shows respect for Kuala Lumpur’s traditional culture but with a modern, sustainable twist.

You will notice the heritage touches first, even before the view. The Peranakan-style furnishes, the rattan panels, the vintage basin in the bathroom that looks like it came straight out of someone’s old kampung home.

One of my favorite little surprises was spotting traditional games tucked into the room, like a congkak board set built onto the table. It’s such an interesting, unexpected way to connect with local culture while just hanging out in your suite.

And then there’s the bed. A king-sized bed that feels like it takes up half the room but in the best way possible. I sat down just to “test” it and woke up almost an hour later. I had to cancel my spa appointment! The sheets are soft, the pillows are perfect, not too fluffy, not too flat.

Even the pillows on the sofa are shaped like batu seremban stones, which made me laugh because it’s such a small, local detail but somehow it makes the room feel alive.

The bathroom deserves its own moment. A freestanding bathtub right by the window and a rain shower overlooking the city of Kuala Lumpur.

The bathtub amenities are also included in the suites category: like the bath bomb, scrubbing pad (?) and a tub of bath salt.
What I really loved about this stay was how it never felt like the hotel was trying too hard to “theme” itself around local culture. Instead, the King Suite feels like a natural extension of the city. Combined with the calmness of the room and the genuinely good service, it makes the whole experience feel grounded and personal.
Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park isn’t just a stunning hotel. It’s one of those places where you can feel that someone cared about every detail, from the tiles to the textures to the way the staff treat you.
Would I stay again? Absolutely! Without question.
