I am back again, to the city that never sleeps – Kuala Lumpur. Is that true though? The lights at the twin tower switches off literally at midnight, so I’m assuming.. the city does actually sleep? But one thing for sure, it’s definitely one of my happy places. I mean I met Paris Hilton here! Such an iconic sweetheart.
This hotel we’re going to is located in Bangsar. Just imagine a chaotic, super busy city. Literally a city that never sleeps. Now, Bangsar is a total opposite of that. I love it! I love sleeping. Bangsar is calm, it’s somewhat quiet. It’s located away from the bustling city but also, not that crazily far away. A Grab ride to the city will roughly take you 15 to 20 minutes? It depends on KL’s crazy traffic.

My check-in experience at Holiday Inn Bangsar is always a quick, breezy one. I have been here twice and the service both times, were just top notch. I am a Diamond Elite member from the IHG One Rewards programme so generally, one could get a complimentary next room category upgrade. Although? It’s not an entitlement, it’s entirely up to the hotel depending on their occupancy. But for both of my stays here so far, they were super nice to accommodate a suite upgrade!

Just like most Holiday Inns elsewhere in the world, the decor and design of the hotel is kept at a minimal. A lot of wood furnishings going on and cute, whimsical designs on the carpet. If you show me a random photo of a random hotel room and they have all these characteristics, 98.6% it will definitely be a Holiday Inn. It could be Crowne Plaza too though? Well, I could be wrong. I’m not perfect, I am not Britney Spears.

*winks*

I love suites, I really love space. But I don’t like it too big either if that makes sense? Sometimes I travel alone because my schedule is just random and impromptu like that, and I get pretty scared at night when I’m sleeping alone.

But the upgraded suite here was just amazing. A living space fit for your friends to come over and hang? Just beautiful. I had friends come over because I did a little Malaysian world tour, and we slept like babies.

The bed was so comfortable. Sheets felt so clean and fresh. The pillows? Oh god, I adore hotel pillows. I love how whenever I’m in hotels by IHG, I get the choice of either the firm or soft pillows. Well, I want it all! And I got it all. As the great Ariana Grande once said: you want it? You got it.
Yuh.

The hotel also prepared a welcome card accompanied by a cute fruit basket. I like them! Now, I am not blessed with great cutting skills so I would love them more if it came sliced or bite sized. I like bananas too!

The suite comes with a coffee machine with only two coffee capsules. No bottles water are placed in the room but there’s a water filtering machine provided, where you can pour tap water in and it will filter and dispense clean drinking water for you. I personally prefer bottled waters but save the earth I guess?

I’m not sure if my photo serves justice to the size of the bathroom but damn, the bathroom was gigantic. It was so spacious I could dance the whole choreography of Abracadabra at every corner. It’s somewhat half the size of the suite!

It has a bathtub, perfect for my evening soak. I really like the idea of just soaking myself in lukewarm bubble bath while watching the minions on my ipad. I don’t know, is that considered a guilty pleasure? It is indeed a pleasure, not really sure of the guilt!

Anything and everything is prepared for you, but if you need more, the amenities are just a phone call away. A little random but their shaving kits are not the best in the world? It’s super blunt but I bring my personal ones just in case.

The pool and gym is located on the rooftop of the hotel. The view might not be the best because again, we’re in Bangsar. It’s relatively not an area that has the bestest views?

But everything was clean, practical and definitely functional.

With the price I paid for, which was less than S$100 a night, I would definitely stay here again. But then again, it’s for the room upgrade that I really loved. If it weren’t for my membership with the hotel, I think one could find better options elsewhere with a more reasonable price and nearer to the city.

But sometimes it’s not the rooms or the price, it’s the service that you’re looking for. It’s because of these brand standards that makes a guest (me!) come returning back. If you are looking for competent, efficient and genuine service, this one will easily tick all your boxes.
