I just realised that all my posts on April is food-related. So ironic considering it’s Ramadan, where most people are fasting. But fret not besties, by the time you’re reading this, it’s already time for you to break your fast! If you’re in Singapore, at least?
Just like the previous food reviews, I’d usually go for the ambience rather than the food. I just feel that I’m not all that when it comes to taste? But hey! I watch Masterchef, I’m sure I can find the right word to describe a dish. Right? I’ll try my best to do so because I know most people prefer to judge a restaurant based on their food and not the ambience and view itself, before actually making a reservation. I get that! And I got chu.
The restaurant is located at the newly-built skyscraper, CapitaSpring. I consider myself a building enthusiast, so anything about new skyscrapers around the Central Business District Area totally captures my attention and when I heard there’s a new restaurant there opening up too, I was super excited!

Sol & Luna is located on the 17th floor of CapitaSpring. Not too high, but not too low to watch the sunset either. Just a little downside, the view of the sky is obstructed here.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting it to be open and airy but really, the whole area is just surrounded by pillars. It’s really distracting if you really wanna enjoy the view.

Most developers now are into the garden concept when it comes to the building design, which is contradicting to me. Find me a person that comes into a modern, high-end building just to immerse themselves in nature. It doesn’t make sense to me.

It was garden-ish all around. I had to find a perfect spot, angle my phone in between pillars just to take photo of the sunset. Not too bad though!

Just opened a few months back in February, Sol & Luna pretty much looks super chic and amazing. It kinda reminds me of Privé and PS Cafe, mixed into one. Not too classy, not too casual either. Just right for me!

The restaurant isn’t that big in size, which makes it intimate and cozy. The lighting is warm and dim, combining that with the sunset hues.. perfection.
The female hostess was really great. Bubbly and just courteous! The male server at the entrance was undeniably attentive. For a moment, I thought I typed attractive. That works too! The effort to open and close doors for their guests? I don’t see PS Cafe doing that! The vibe was really uplifting and welcoming. You can somehow sense their morale was indeed high that evening, important for running a new business in town!
Let’s move on to the food! You can check out the full menu here while I tell you about the ones I ordered.
We’re gonna start with appetisers, which is prolly my favourite part of dining in. The portions aren’t too big so I can experiment and try foods that I’ve never tasted before.
Grilled Australian Shark Bay Tiger Prawns ($25)

To be honest, I was rather confused with the long name of the dish. I wasn’t sure if I’m gonna eat a shark or tiger prawns? I’m fine with both. But I’m sure sharks aren’t safely edible no?
Apparently it was just tiger prawns. I think Shark Bay is a location?
The taste wasn’t anything different in my opinion. It was just normal grilled prawns that you can get from Lau Pa Sat. Also, the size of the prawns were really small for tiger prawns. I usually say size doesn’t matter but this wasn’t it. Super salty too, it was super over-seasoned.
Prawn & Octopus Niçoise Salad ($25)

I’m usually not into salads but octopus?! I love them. I love them grilled. Not chewy, not too mushy. This one was great. The salad dressing wasn’t too watery and sour, it was just right. Get this for your starters!

For the sides, we ordered a mixture of meat and vegatarian options. I’m practically 0.02% vegetarian, I love vegetarian foods. So we ordered the Wood-Roasted Cauliflower Steak ($10)
Ahhh-mazing. I never thought cauliflowers would taste this great. It was phenomenal.
We also ordered the Grilled Asparagus ($14) which is one of my favourite vegetable of all time. Nothing interesting about this one though, I mean it’s just asparagus. But I order it mostly at all restaurants cause it goes great with steak. So I’d recommend it if you feel it’s a great pair to your mains.
Baked Veal Shank Pie ($28)
Beautifully cooked veal in a very buttery puff pastry. Very soft and flakey too! This reminds me of the ones that Soup Spoon has! Though I find it weird that it’s listed as mains. I personally find it more of an appetiser or an afternoon tea dish actually.
Wood-Fired Wagyu Bavette 200g ($36)
You know I love my meats! Never have I ever passed a chance to not order steak at any restaurant if I see it on the menu. And a wagyu-grade?! Yup. I’ll get that, ma’am.
Now. If you’re wondering what bavette really is, don’t worry. I got you babes. I was googling it too when I was reading through the menu. Bavette?! All I know is baguette. Oui, mi amor?
So bavette is actually a cut of a steak, specifically the lower part of the cow. It’s made out of the cow’s abdominal muscle and considered to be one of the healthier cuts.

As for the thickness, it’s actually a thinner cut of the meat too so it’s gonna be super moist and tender if you have it cooked medium-rare. Definitely the best choice.

For dessert, I had the Ispahan Tart ($8.50) and if you’re like me, who doesn’t know what ispahan means..
It’s a flavor combination of a fragrant rose, the sourness of raspberry, and the sweet note of lychee. In short, I just called this the bandung tart.
I had a similar tart like this one back in Fullerton if you remember my past review. Just like that one, the taste is so divine and iconic. Maybe I just love bandungs too much? I don’t know.
The taste of the tart was really great. It wasn’t too sweet either, which is really important to me cause I never liked my desserts to be overly-sweet and deadly. My only complaint about this Ispahan Tart is the size.
Size definitely matters if it’s yummy. I just can’t get enough! I think I have to come for afternoon tea here because their range of tarts are just so cute to look at. Cute and yummy, what a great combination.
It was so relaxing to have dinner here. Though there wasn’t any view for me to just gaze upon, the food and the vibe really made up for it. It wasn’t too steep, price-wise and the service here is just magnificent.
When it comes to ambience and affordability, I’d always tell people that my favourite restaurants are either Privé or PS Cafe but seems like I got a new one here on my list!
Sol & Luna is great for casual dinners and maybe even dates. It seems romantic once the sun is down? The warm lighting makes everything look so dreamy. If you’re not into dinner, they’re open early for lunch too! For me, for sure I’ll book a table for afternoon tea here. One hundred percent! The menu is just super tempting.
