Christmas Dinner at Food Capital (Restaurant Review)

First of all, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas! Regardless if you’re celebrating or not, it’s always best to spread the joy and cheer to everyone around you. Take this long weekend to spend quality time with your close friends and family because at the end of the day, that is all that matters right?

My girlfriends and I had our Christmas dinner hosted by Food Capital at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and I’m so excited to tell you all about it. I’m also gonna share with you the deals and promotions that you are encouraged to take advantage of, so keep on reading!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel is one of the latest hotel that just reopened its doors for staycations and everything was just going on full-force. Rooms are on high occupancy, restaurants are fully reserved. But still, with that level of chaos, the restaurant team was nothing but accommodating.

When we arrived, the whole restaurant was fully packed but thanks to the superb reservation team, our table was already prepared just as we walked in. The restaurant manager went out of his way to inform us that the restaurant isn’t halal-certified. While some may be offended, I for one, find that really polite and sensible of him. He doesn’t need to do that but he did anyways.

The first thing that came to my mind when it’s Christmas is always.. the roasted turkey! It’s kinda hard to get real turkey here in Singapore, unless it’s thanksgiving or Christmas so I’m actually glad we were invited for the festive buffet.

Guess which station I queued for first! Yup! The roasted, western station. Not sure how a turkey sounds like, but I’m sure I heard it calling my name.

Not only was the roasted turkey available, the Oven Roasted Australian Beef Ribeye was there too. Both of them tasted so divine, I couldn’t stop queuing for more. Ironically, I loved the roasted beef more than the turkey. It was juicy, tender and just perfect while the turkey seemed a bit too dry and chewy for my liking.

Just by the western roasted station was the Indian food, which is also one of my favourites. You can choose to get either the Homemade Garlic Naan or Butter Naan to pair with the iconic, tasty side dishes.

Prawn Curry Masala, Dal Tadka and Butter Turkey are just a few from the many options that you can choose from to have with your naan. I chose Butter Turkey just because I was curious about the taste? I’ve only tasted Butter Chicken in my whole entire life, but a turkey version? Super intrigued.

Unlike the oven-roasted turkey, it wasn’t as dry. It was way much tender and has more flavour prolly due to the thick curry and the spices used. Interesting, I must say. I expected the taste to be similar to Butter Chicken but there was a significant difference.

Other than the delicious dishes, there was also the tandoori whole lamb leg. Never was I so into legs like I am now. I was salivating! Do note that this specialty is available only for dinner.

If you’re in the mood for something local, there is a laksa station which is only prepared when you order so it’ll still be piping hot when it reaches your table.

A station specially just for claypot dishes is available too!

“Featured in the International buffet concept by Food Capital are flavor-packed creations from Chef Max’s Signature Claypot including Wok-fried Tiger Prawn with Asparagus in Hot Bean Sauce and more.”

There’s so many varieties of food to choose from! I was spoilt for choices. You can check out more from the menu here!
