Ascott Orchard, Singapore (Hotel Review)

What a great month so far! In the month of June, I am focusing my hotel reviews on properties under the Ascott Brand. So here’s part 2 of 3!

Few weeks back, I shared with you about my guest experience in Lyf Funan Singapore and while I particularly didn’t enjoy my short stay there, I was surprised that they were under the prestigious, Ascott Brand.

Being one of the world’s leading luxurious hotel brands, they broke new grounds, founding Asia pacific’s first international-class serviced apartment with the opening of The Ascott Singapore in 1984. I’ve heard great reviews about the next property that I’m staying at so I was genuinely excited to see and feel what the exhilaration is all about!

Ascott Orchard, Singapore.

Located near a prominent shopping district in Singapore, the property is nestled in Cairnhill Road. Mind you, if you’re into hotel rooms that has great outdoor views, Ascott Orchard does not offer a picturesque scene from your window. It’s surrounded by other tall serviced-apartments and condominiums, but then again, why would you wanna look out the window when the hotel is just as breathtakingly beautiful?

As I stepped out from my Gojek (GRAB? Ew!) car, the first impression that I had of the property was how modern-looking everything looks. The building design is clean and sleek, although typical if you’re working in Singapore’s business district like I am. I always get intrigued with skyscrapers and architecture, that’s just the geek in me! The clear, blue skies reflected from the glass exterior makes the view more aesthetically pleasing.

The hotel lobby is located on the second level. For a big property, I’m surprised that the check-in area wasn’t as spacious. Small, yet cosy. And there were only two check-in counters.

A little basic tip: Always check-in on a weekday to avoid the long, soul-destroying queue.

The interior design of the hotel lobby is beyond captivating. If you’re into luxury brands and fashion, this hotel is supremely perfect for your staycation. Furnished with Louis Vuitton luggages and handbags, it already look like a fashion boutique. I believe these are the HAT BOX LOUIS VUITTON 40, and the vintage monogram trunks. Forgive me if I’m wrong! I’m never into branded, luxury bags but I surely can appreciate them.

The waiting area is also equipped with biography books by Chanel and LV. The sophistication here is just phenomenal, I wasn’t even in my room yet and I could already feel the obvious difference between this perfection than the last Ascott property I went.

The corridors to the guest room is elegantly lit with dim-yellow lightings which instantly makes the whole atmosphere so calming and inviting. Makes me more excited to check out my room!

I find it really interesting how you can find these headless mannequins in every corner of the hotel. It just adds up to the fashion-tailoring vibe. Just unique!

The room that I booked was the standard studio room; furnished with a comfy queen bed, a complete kitchenette and a relaxing rain shower in the bathroom. The room is beyond beautiful! I love how the huge mural by the bed really gives the whole room a whole personality of its own. And I’m a sucker for wooden floorings, the fact that the room has it definitely turns on the right switch for me, architectural-wise.

The bed was really comfortable! But what I really loved about it was the pillows that were provided. Pillows of different levels of firmness were placed on the bed, if you like the firm or the soft ones; it’s all there! Not only that, they have extra pillows too in their well-lighted cupboard! I love sleeping with mountains of pillows all over me, so this is definitely a dream. Literally.

The kitchenette is really a big-plus as well. A microwave oven is also provided for you to heat up your food! Back when I used to travel, I preferred AirBnbs than hotels; particularly for the same reason, the efficiency of having a microwave is to die for. It’s the littlest things like these that makes the whole experience exceed to a whole new level. A coffee machine, sets of crockery and wine glasses are provided too! Everything is complete, just like how my life and heart feels like when I stayed here.

Bathrobes and slippers are available for use, as well. Nothing felt missing and out-of-place. It’s really all convenient and perfect!

Let’s talk amenities! The usual toiletries, toothbrushes and combs are provided. The bathroom is equipped with a comforting rain shower and most importantly to me, a bidet!

Being in the hotel industry, anticipating a guest’s need is really essential in making the whole experience a heartwarming one. I really felt like I was taken care of, it’s amazing.

In-Room Dining is available too! Which I really look forward to, cause I never liked dining out when I already anticipated a relaxing, cosy time in my hotel room. Also! Due to the pandemic restrictions, we weren’t able to dine out but again, that doesn’t really bother me.

Kith Cafe, is the on-site food establishment in the property. The In-Room Dining menu is prepared by them. While it is not a fine dining restaurant per se, the food they served was great!

But do keep in mind, if you order room service, they will serve it in brown take-away paper-bags instead of proper plates like how normal hotels usually do. So! If you wanna feeling atas like how I usually am, there’s crockery and plate sets from the kitchenette for you to put your food on before taking that instagrammable shot! Say cheese!

Ultimately, Ascott Orchard Singapore has exceeded all my expectations. Not that my expectations are high anyway, I would definitely return. It ticked all the right boxes for me! If it’s great for me, it’s definitely great for everyone too! I will only recommend something that amazes me, don’t worry. Although I find myself quite easy to please, there’s certain things that I look out for when choosing the right hotel. Be it the room rates, ambience, style, etc.

Ascott Orchard Singapore is the perfect choice of hotel if you need a relaxing getaway with your friends and family. If convenience and efficiency is your vibe, this is it!

We’re not done yet! Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks for the final part of my hotel reviews with Ascott. I’m going to Ascott Raffles Place Singapore next, which is housed in a restored 1950s heritage building.

Am I excited? Oh, yes I am!

See you there, Aliff Daniel.
