Burp! My family and I went to Royal Plaza On Scotts, for a buffet in their onsite restaurant. I think we all know what Carousel is. No! No that, merry-go-round festival ride. It’s a well-known hotel restaurant that offers halal buffet of different foods from different cultures. Japanese, indian, local, mediterranean.. you name it!

It was my mum’s birthday and I initially wanted to get the private room for us but apparently you’re allowed to make reservations for it only if you have 8 persons under your booking. Well.. my family consist of only 6. But it’s okay! The tables at the common area isn’t too bad as well!

In compliance with the local authorities’ safe management measures, efforts are made around the restaurant to minimise guests’ movements. Instead of queueing up to get your own food yourself, the servers will be the one serving you your food. I personally like it better this way. Not only will you save the food from any wastage but your food will always be piping hot when it comes to the table.

Also! Instead of physical menus, a QR code is now placed on your table and only you have to do is scan it. Voila! The menu pops up! Not only does it act as a virtual menu, you can also order your food and drinks from it! The orders will then be sent to the kitchen and the servers will prepare your food for you in minutes. How convenient!

I didn’t take much photos of the food but the chilli crab was my favorite! The best part about the virtual menu is that, they have options for the size of the food. So I’d know if I over ordered or not. The portions are not that much to begin with, even if you choose the bigger option but then again.. it’s a buffet. It’s unlimited!

If you enjoy gueridon trolley service as much as I do, they have it here too. The cart will come by to your table and you could ask for a steak if you want, and the restaurant staff will slice it up real nice for you. I must say, it’s definitely super tender.

Same goes to desserts too! While the hot desserts can be ordered from the virtual menu, the cold ones are served on a cart too. They will make rounds in the restaurant but fret not, they’ll definitely come to your table. The creme brûlée is too die for!
I definitely enjoyed having my family dinner here. Will I recommend this restaurant to my friends? I think so. But will I come back? I’ll have to think about it. The things I look out for when I dine out is always the service, the food and the ambience. I think the lacking factor here is the ambience.

Food was amazing, no doubt. My younger brother ate till he can’t walk no more! The service? Really breathtaking. I’m actually am really impressed with their service. Staffs were polite from the moment we stepped out of our car until the end of our visit. They were smiling and graciously attended to our needs throughout our dinner. I would also like to send my compliments to one of the server, Nalan. I hope I remembered his name correctly. He is definitely an asset to the restaurant team. Thank you for guiding us and making our dinner extra special with your heartfelt service. We really had a welcoming experience here.

Oh! Something a little special for the muslims, Royal Plaza On Scotts provides a prayer room that is located on level 2. It has everything you need! Due to the pandemic though, it’s encouraged that your bring your own prayer mat for hygiene purposes.

The ablution area is inside and indoor as well. So; for the ladies, you don’t have to worry about outsiders looking at your awrah. The prayer room is only for guest staying or having dinner in Carousel. So if you’re around Orchard Road and you need to pray, you’ll have to find a place elsewhere unfortunately.
Carousel is now having a card promotion until the end of January. If you’re paying by PayNow or with certain bank cards, 20% discount will be applied to your bill. Read more about it here!
I am now in bed and all I could think about now is the bread pudding that I had for dessert. You should try it too! Make your reservation here and tell me about your experience!
